Bringing Timeless Buddhist Wisdom to Modern Life

Kadampa Meditation Center Chicago is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization dedicated to sharing the practical wisdom of Buddha's teachings with everyone in the Chicago area through meditation and mindfulness practices. We offer an array of drop-in classes, weekend events, and retreats open to everyone and suitable for all levels of experience.

Most of our classes and events are held at our two locations: in Oak Park and in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood. We also offer branch classes in Bloomington-Normal, IL.

Our meditation practices are based upon a living tradition of wisdom teachings that has been passed down from teacher to student, and which has liberated practitioners from anxiety, stress, pain, and suffering for thousands of years.

People coming here are your friends and neighbors who have found these teachings to be just as transformative today. Feel free to try any drop-in class and see for yourself. Each includes guided meditation, practical teaching, and time for questions. No pre-registration needed.

We are part of the New Kadampa Tradition (NKT-IKBU), an international network of over 1200 independent, non-profit centers and branches in over 40 countries, all devoted to sharing Kadampa Buddhism throughout the world.

Everyone is welcome!
